It&#8217;s the Internet&#8230; AI is not close yet to the impact the Internet had on journalism.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He explains that, years ago, competition was local \u2014 winning the narrative in the community coffee shop. With the Internet coming onto the scene during the time he was reporting, competition shifted primarily toward searchability and discoverability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo be competitive now with other outlets in our space, I&#8217;m always thinking about how to get ahead of them in searchability and discoverability. We want CMSWire to be numero uno in Google for things like \u2018customer experience news.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Q: <strong>How has the rise of AI search impacted your editorial calendar or the kinds of stories you prioritize at CMSWire?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While AI hasn\u2019t yet rivaled the Internet\u2019s disruption, it\u2019s certainly reshaping how journalists work. Dom describes AI as a tool for efficiency, not creativity \u2014 one that accelerates his workflow without replacing editorial judgment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAI has made me a faster editor by helping to dissect long transcripts and code for article formatting and data aggregation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like most publications, CMSWire is exploring ways to increase visibility in AI Overviews and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). Still, organic and email traffic remain CMSWire\u2019s strongest referral channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Related Read &gt;&gt; <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pancommunications.com\/insights\/ai-seo-adapting-search-for-google-ai-overviews\/\"><strong>AI &amp; SEO: Adapting Your Search Strategies for Google AI Overviews<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Q: <strong>What makes a strong source to you?\u2028<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dom values agenda-free insights and practitioner perspectives over vendor promotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He cautions PR professionals against leading with products and encourages them to focus on building thought leader exposure \u2014 developing a person\u2019s brand before the company\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d rather interview the customer of a technology provider \u2014 the practitioner \u2014 than the executive. But I\u2019m not looking for a case study,\u201d Dom noted.<br><br>Dom also reminds PR pros to control their own narratives. \u201cIf I\u2019m interviewing your customer, I probably won\u2019t mention the vendor unless it\u2019s unavoidable. But your PR team can amplify that interview on your owned channels to show you\u2019re part of the story.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Q: <strong>What are some of your PR\/pitch pet peeves?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Interestingly, Dom\u2019s biggest frustration isn\u2019t with PR professionals \u2014 it\u2019s with journalists who criticize them. He specifically referenced journalists who complain about PR professionals asking to cut a part of an interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat&#8217;s the fundamental thing that a PR person does. They&#8217;re trying to protect their client&#8230; And what does it hurt to ask? And what does it hurt to receive that question if you&#8217;re the journalist? Why go on LinkedIn to complain about it? Just say no and move on with your life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also encourages PR professionals to plan ahead (as much as they\u2019re able): \u201cPitching news with a press release link and asking for coverage a week later is too late for a digital media company that competes on organic search traffic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Related Read &gt;&gt; <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pancommunications.com\/insights\/inside-the-modern-media-mindset\/\"><strong>Inside the Modern Media Mindset: What Journalists Are Really Saying<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Q: <strong>If you could give one piece of advice to a new reporter starting out today, what would it be?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dom&#8217;s advice for a new reporter starting out today is simple and timeless:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cConnect with people. This job is about getting people to talk to you. It\u2019s not about research \u2014 that\u2019s part of it \u2014 but it\u2019s not the bread and butter. I don\u2019t care if it\u2019s AI or the Internet or SEO, you still need to get in front of people and find good people to give you good comments.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Q: <strong>What are you currently working on at CMSWire?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>CMSWire&#8217;s editorial focus is primarily on Customer Experience (CX) and the Digital Experience (DX) world, though Dom noted the former is currently hotter than the latter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the CX space, the biggest stories right now revolve around how AI is impacting the agent experience and the customer service world. Dom\u2019s eager to connect with practitioners \u2014 especially from well-known brands \u2014 who are using AI to innovate responsibly in customer engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I want to hear from agents using these tools daily. What\u2019s really happening on the front lines of AI in CX?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Authentic Storytelling: How PAN\u2019s Media Experts Are Maintaining Human Connection<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dom Nicastro\u2019s perspective underscores an enduring truth: while technology evolves, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pancommunications.com\/services\/approach\/\">authentic storytelling<\/a> still begins with human connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At PAN, we share that belief.
